I was fortunate to have almost a full day to go exploring and painting in Petersburg. I loved this fishing town. It was quiet and beautiful. This small piece is from one of my favorite areas down by the docks, canneries, and fishing boats. The colors and shapes are what attracted me most. Gouache on watercolor paper, 5 by 7 inches.

South of Wooden Wheel Lodge
Joe’s sons showed me the trail south of the Wooden Wheel Lodge and left me there to paint my way back. It was a great day. Even though it sprinkled and then rained, the trees gave just enough protection. I could hear something out in the water, it sounded large, but I never saw it as I painted this piece. Gouache on watercolor paper, 4 by 6 inches.
Fog over Rockaway
The fog lasted for quite a while over the surf at Rockaway Beach, OR. Here’s my 4×6 inch Plein air gouache study of it, with a little sand stuck to the left edge of the painting. It was heaven to have the boys playing in the sand nearby and Jackie sitting with me while I painted this. Gouache on watercolor paper, 4 by 6 inches.
